Napoleonic French

I have a small Napoleonic French army in 15mm that I collected for a Peninsular War campaign. They are sculpted by Anthony Barton and are now retailed by Eureka Miniatures in Australia. Probably the best looking 15mm or rather, 18mm Napoleonic figures in the market.

The infantry figures are wearing shakos, so they can be used to represent the Imperial French army anytime from 1806 to 1812. I rather enjoyed researching the uniforms and painting this army. I have it permanently on display at home.

Light Infantry

Napoleon's proud Light Infantry are always the first to take to the field. They provide the skirmish screen that protects the rest of the army.

French Light Infantry battalions consist of six companies. One elite Carabinier company holds the right flank, one light Voltigeur company holds the left, and four Chasseurs à Pied companies hold the centre.

Line Infantry

The backbone of every Napoleonic army. The French Line Infantry are mostly conscripts but have distinguished themselves time and again.

French Line Infantry firing. Each French infantry battalion is usually formed by six companies. On the right is a company of elite Grenadiers, on the left a company of light Voltigeurs, and four companies of Fusiliers hold the centre of the line.

Light Cavalry

The role of the Napoleonic Light Cavalry is to scout ahead of the army, run down fleeing enemies, and to cover the retreat of the army. There are two types of Light Cavalry units, Chasseurs à Cheval and the flamboyant Hussars.

Medium Cavalry

Dragoons are armed with carbines and straight piercing swords, which make them a versatile and mobile force. They can exploit a weakness in the enemy line to break them, or can be thrown in to plug holes in your own line.

Horse Artillery

Napoleon started his military career as an Artillery officer, and has always emphasised the use of artillery in his campaign. The light guns and mobility of the Horse Artillery means they can be maneuvred where they can cause the most damage.

Foot Artillery

8 pounder medium artillery guns.

12 pounder heavy artillery guns.

Generals and A.D.C.

I have a few Brigade and Division Generals and some Aide de camp figures. The A.D.C. in the middle is painted to represent one of Berthier's A.D.C.
