Empire Special Units

These Special units lend the extra punch that an Empire army needs to take out the enemy.

Greatswords

How fortunes change. The Greatswords used to be the least useful Empire infantry unit, but with the Warhammer 6th edition rule change for Great Weapons, and the special rules in the Empire armybook, they have become elite infantry.

The old figures were also among the ugliest in the Empire range, but these 6th edition Greatswords are among the nicest. I've bulked up the unit with conversions from various plastic Empire sets. The Count's Champion is from the Mordheim Averland range.

Pistolliers

These guys were also upgraded in the 6th edition. They used to lack punch because they did not ride Warhorses. But with the new pistol rules, they can hit very hard on the turn they charge.

I have used an obsolete Outrider figure as a Marksman with a Repeating Pistol, sculpted a bagpipes, and added a banner. One of the figures was converted from a Mordhiem Marienburger mercenary.

Cannons

The business end of the Empire army. These guys hit hard from a long range.

I have got a Master Engineer armed with a Repeating Pistol leading this battery.

Mortars

If you are likely to be outnumbered by the enemy, the Mortars will even up the odds a little. Soft squishy targets beware.

This mortar battery is led by a Master Engineer with a Hochland Long Rifle.
