Dark Elf Special Units
You are spoilt for choice in Special units in a Dark Elf army. But a wrong match-up with your enemy's forces will prove fatal.
Dark Elf units hit very hard when they charge. If they fail to do so, they will suffer huge losses.
Shades

I seldom use my Dark Elf scouts, or Shades. I wish they had better close combat capabilities. They can, however, pick off enemy units with their Repeating Crossbows and slow them down.
Harpies

The biggest problem with the Harpies is that they cannot use the General's Leadership. With low Leadership, they are likely to flee from shooting, and would be unable to charge Fear causing enemies.
Use them with characters on flying mounts and they can tip the balance in a fight.
Cold One Knights

You will remember the times when their Stupidity cost you the game, more often than when the ferocity of their charge wins you the game.
They can function as a points sink, a juicy target, or if coupled with a Hydra Banner, they can steamroll through almost anyone.
Cold One Chariots

I am a true believer that good things come in pairs. One chariot can perform badly, but together, they are likely to tear a whole in the middle of the enemy line.
Witch Elves

Witch Elves dish out so many attacks that even elite enemies will treat them with respect. Their vulnerability is their lack of armour, but once stuck in, they will carve their way through whole units.
Coupled with the Cauldron of Blood, they can form the backbone of a devastating army.
Har Ganeth Executioners

I regarded them as the hardest looking models in the Warhammer range. If only they were close to how they looked.
They are under the Witch Elves in the pecking order, but faced with tough enemies in strong armour, they would be in their element.
